Check you have a ticket before you get checked

It is very important that you always have a valid V/Line ticket in your possession.

Over the next few months, as part of a Department of Transport requirement, an Authorised Officer may ask to see your ticket after you leave your train service.

If you board at an unstaffed station and are unable to purchase a ticket before boarding, always make sure you seek out an onboard conductor and buy your ticket.

There are several options available to purchase a ticket before boarding:

  • At your nearest staffed station
  • At the Southern Cross Station booking office
  • By purchasing your periodical ticket up to two days in advance
  • By calling 136 196.

Remember, it is a customer’s responsibility to have a valid V/Line ticket.

Thank you for your cooperation.
